Let’s talk about self-esteem and motivation

We hear a lot in the last few years about personal development, self-esteem, motivation, positive thinking, etc. But it is also possible to create knots in the brain by wanting to do too much, read too much and want to be perfect. But it is also possible to create knots in the brain by wanting to do too much, read too much and want to be perfect. Sometimes it becomes a race to see who has read the best book or listened to the best audio.

Have you ever read books on how the brain works to analyze the chemical mechanisms that allow you to become a millionaire? Well, I have. Well, I’m exaggerating, but not that much! Sometimes I read books because I needed at least 10 pages a day. We regularly hear that this is one of the keys to success. By the time I close my book … I can’t tell you what I’ve read!

There have been times when I have been on this quest for perfection and personal development. I often thought that we had to take the perfect actions to succeed and be happy but finally, we forget to listen to ourselves. Moreover, it can reflect bad self-esteem if we do not reach our surreal goals. Of course, it is good to impose discipline and to stay motivated to progress towards our goals. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey. It is important to detach yourself from the outcome and take time for yourself (without guilt!).

And this is where the process takes on its full importance. Don’t forget that it is the process that makes you grow. Indeed, the final result or goal is just the representation of your work, the cherry on the Sunday! Try to focus, to celebrate your little milestones. Take the time to notice when you bounce back from your challenges (personal or professional). Oftentimes, slowing down, re-evaluating and readjusting your plan means respecting yourself and your rhythm!

Let’s be clear, slowing down doesn’t mean putting everything off because otherwise, we’re talking about procrastination. Let’s take as an example the next service or product you want to launch. It may be that the timeline established at the beginning was simply too short. This can create a feeling of delay or not being up to the task when the situation has nothing to do with your professional abilities but with bad planning. Don’t forget that you are doing your best! It is important to realize this to have good self-esteem and to stay motivated towards your goals.

If you feel overwhelmed, don’t forget to keep time for your 3 basics: eating well, sleeping well, moving well. If you don’t, you’ll run out of steam quickly and you won’t know why. Taking good care of yourself and listening to your body will allow you to move mountains in the future (if that is your goal).

That concludes this article on self-esteem and motivation. I hope that this little reading break has allowed you to feel less guilty and to rethink what is good for you at the moment.
