Thallo Career is an online platform designed to help students and recent grads find internships and entry-level opportunities.
About Phoenix Hoang

“I grew up in a very entrepreneurial-minded family. My grandfather ventured in multiple businesses, from operating a construction company to building a successful ice cream production company, to finally start all over with a convenience store in a completely different country due to the Vietnam war. Heavily influenced by him, I learned early on that resiliency and humbleness was key to navigating through life’s unexpected hurdles and obstacles.
Growing up I went to a music-oriented elementary school, Le Plateau, where I learned to play multiple musical instruments, mainly the piano. Afterwards, I went to an all-boys high school, College Jean de Brebeuf, graduated from HEC in Accounting in 2012 and completed my CPA, CMA in 2014.
During my college years, I started getting interested in business and ventured in the buy-resell business where I would purchase cell phones and auto parts from various suppliers and re-sell them at markup. I was also working part time jobs (waiter, sales rep and machine operator) to pay for school tuition. Prior to graduating, I started an internship at Bombardier Aerospace in Internal controls. The internship landed me a full-time job as an Internal Auditor for Bombardier Inc.. This job allowed me to travel to multiple sites (Mexico, China, US) and oversee very diverse processes and operations in the aerospace manufacturing business, including production, financial operations, payroll and even security. Afterwards, I worked for PwC Canada as a Senior Consultant in Risk Management and helped clients in multiple industries : telecommunications, transportation, retail and manufacturing.
During my time at Bombardier, I started a distribution company in 2014 focused on reselling 3D printer’s plastic filaments (PLA and ABS). My partner and I operated the business for 4 years and brought revenue of the company in the 6 figures before dissolving the company due to conflict with our 3rd partner and for lack of passion. In 2017, my partner and I started our second company, Crossbridge Real Estate LP, where we invest in residential and vacation properties. We currently have around 9M$ in asset under management, spread out through 5 properties in 2 locations, Montreal and San Francisco. Having learned from our first venture that transparent communication is one of the key successes of the company, we were able to keep a healthy relationship and still operate the company to this day and we expect to double our AUM in the next few years.
Now the idea of Thallo actually came to me when I started working as an Internal Auditor at Bombardier. I saw that while I was able to land a job at graduation, a lot of my classmates were struggling to find a full time job, let alone an internship. One key differentiator was that I had working experience as an intern, within the company I got the permanent job from.
It facilitated the process, and at the same time, gave me a taste of how the company operates and my fit with it along with the team I was working with. That’s why I personally think that in order to optimize your career choice as a student and recent graduate, you need to have a first hand experience within the company you want to work for. It allows both you and the company to see if the fit is right before you commit a major part of your life.
Therefore, I wanted Thallo to be the facilitator in this process and allow these potential candidates to benefit from the experience just as I did. Having started 2 companies so far, I think that there will be a tremendous feeling of fulfilment if I am able to contribute to the success of placing students and recent graduates in jobs that meet their expectations and satisfaction.

“I have worked in logistics for an air conditioning company. I work as a service delivery manager/small project manager for an IT company. I’ve been with that company for 5 years now. On the side I have dabbled in social media marketing for a rock climbing gym and for myself. I also worked as a video analyst for a sports analytic company. I am now working on Thallo with my 2 co-founders where I have the role of CMO.”
